Often overlooked, but as a part of the standard software on the Magnetek IMPULSEĀ® VG+ Series 4 drive, “Anti-Shock” programming for the hoist motion is ideal for specific applications.

These applications can include Lumber yards (Log Grapples), Concrete plants (Clam Shell), Refuse to Energy (Orange Peel Grapple) and magnet applications in steel mills.

The above picture shows a perfect application for Magnetekā€™s Anti-Shock software to reduce the stress of structural and mechanical components.

This is from the Magnetek VG+ manual:

ā€œAnti-Shock is a Hoist NLB feature on the IMPULSEĀ® VG+ Series 4 drive in the Flux Vector control method.Ā  The torque output of the hoist is continuously monitored, and when it increases above a threshold (Parameter settings C07-15 and C07-16), the hoist automatically decelerates and waits for the torque to stabilize before smoothly re-accelerating (Parameter settings C07-17 and C07-18).Ā  Anti-Shock is designed to maximize hoist operational efficiency while minimizing crane structure and fatigue.ā€

This gives you the ability to dial in the settings you want to use in order to maintain production and limit impact loads.

Click here to watch this video that shows how at the moment of the hoist obtaining the load, the hoist drive reduces the impact.
