Return and Refund Policy

At Engineered Lifting Systems, we are committed to providing the highest quality overhead crane equipment, hoists, and components. As a provider of specialized industrial machinery and custom-engineered solutions, we have established the following policy to provide clarity regarding returns, refunds, and exchanges.

1. General Return Guidelines

  • Return Authorization (RMA) Required: No returns will be accepted without a valid Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. You must contact our support team at 866-756-1200 or via our website contact form to initiate a return request.
  • Timeframe: Returns for eligible standard parts must be requested within 30 days of the original invoice date.
  • Condition: Items must be in new, unused, and resalable condition with all original packaging, manuals, and accessories intact.

2. Non-Returnable Items

Due to the specialized nature of our industry, the following items are Final Sale and cannot be returned or refunded:

  • Custom-Engineered Systems: Any cranes, hoists, or lifting devices built to specific customer dimensions or specifications.
  • Electrical Components: Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), radio controls, and circuit boards that have been opened or installed (due to the risk of improper installation damaging the unit).
  • Cut-to-Length Items: Wire rope, festoon cable, or enclosed track cut to specific footage.
  • Labor & Services: Fees for inspections, modernizations, engineering consultations, and installation services are non-refundable once performed.

3. Restocking Fees

Eligible returns for standard “off-the-shelf” parts (e.g., standard pushbutton stations, collectors, unregistered replacement motors) are subject to a restocking fee to cover handling, inspection, and vendor return costs.

  • Standard Restocking Fee: 20% – 35% of the item’s purchase price.
  • The fee may be waived if the return is due to a shipping error made by Engineered Lifting Systems.

4. Warranty Claims

Most equipment sold by Engineered Lifting Systems (including Magnetek, Gorbel, and Yale products) is covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty.

  • Defective Products: If you receive a product, or believe it is defective, contact us immediately. We will facilitate the warranty evaluation process with the manufacturer.
  • Repair vs. Replace: The manufacturer reserves the right to repair or replace the unit at their discretion under their specific warranty terms.

5. Shipping & Handling

  • Return Shipping: The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs. We recommend using a trackable shipping method and insuring high-value items (e.g., hoists or drives).
  • Damaged Shipments: If a shipment arrives visibly damaged, you must note this on the carrier’s delivery receipt and contact us within 48 hours. Failure to report freight damage immediately may result in the denial of a claim.

6. Refund Process

Once your return is received and inspected at our Fenton, MO facility (or the designated manufacturer warehouse):

  • We will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
  • Approved refunds will be processed as a credit to your original method of payment or a credit on your business account.
  • Please allow 7-10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.

  1. Identify your Order: Have your Invoice Number or Purchase Order (PO) Number ready.
  2. Contact Us: Call 866-756-1200 or email the service department.
  3. Ship the Item: Once you receive your RMA #, mark it clearly on the outside of the box (do not write directly on the original product packaging).
